Dear Parents and Guardians,
I’m writing to say thank you. Thank you for your patience in these uncharted waters. We have been in many different boats, but all in the same storm. I also want to say thank you for your support as we had to transition, with little time to prepare, to remote learning. With your help and support, we are able to continue your child’s learning. COVID-19 has put us all in situations we wish were better in more ways than one. Together we can get through this not only as a school district, but as a larger community as well.
This letter’s main purpose is to inform you of your child’s grading and last report card under COVID-19 protocols from the CDC, Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Cornell School District. With the realization of new home schedules and at home learning, Cornell Elementary School decided to move to a grading system based on completion, logins, and work attempted. Therefore your child’s 4th nine weeks will not be calculated for promotion or retention for next year. Furthermore, the first 3 nine weeks will be used to determine promotion or retention.
Below are the grades assigned for the 4th nine weeks.
O - Outstanding
S - Satisfactory
I - Incomplete
E - Enrichment
X - Not Assessed
Thank you as we continue to support our essential workers, practice social distancing, stay safe, stay healthy, and work together to continue educating the students of our community.
