My name is Greg Paul and I am the counselor at Cornell Elementary School.  Please contact me anytime if you have any questions or concerns.  Our counseling program provides standards based counseling programs that promote academic, personal/social, and career development skills for all students.  Some of our programs include:

Individual and Group Counseling
  • Individual and group counseling offers students an opportunity to discuss problems, gain insight, and learn skills to address specific concerns or conflict.
Connflict resolution
  • Conflict resolution helps students understand the different strategies and approaches to dealing with social conflicts that occur throughout a given school year.  Our students will learn appropriate actions to take when confronted with a conflict and it is our belief, that knowledge will promote more self-confidence when experiencing challenging situations.
Classroom Character Education
  • The Cornell Elementary Character Development/Education Program provides a framework and accompanying activities for teaching and modeling communication skills and relationship building in the school.  Cornell Elementary has teamed up with Premier and Sunburst Visual Media, and the Department of Education, all well known for creative educational materials, to bring our students a character development/anti-bullying program designed for our elementary students.
Classroom Career Education
  • Cornell Elementary students participate in career exploration and career awareness acivities throughout the school year.  Our students learn about the different career clusters and pathways represented in the PA Career Education and Work Standards.  Students participate in self-assessment activities to gather information about career clusters that suit their personality and interests.  Our sixth grade students will create an electronic career portfolio that maintains a personal record of selected careers and connected post-secondary programs.  Our elementary students obtain an understanding that self awareness can help towards choosing a more satisfying occupational field to explore.
Academic/Study Skills Preparation Education
  • Our sixth grade students participate in a transition program that is geared towards making the transition to Cornell Junior High School a success.  The program is called Transition Success:  Starting Strong in Middle School.  Students learn everything from time management and goal setting, to setting appropriate boundaries and understanding accountability.  Students also learn about internet safety and cyber bullying.
